Singer was born on November 26, 1986, in Santa Monica California. The father of the singer, Vincenzo Barba is her mother Valerie Barba. Her family and she moved from Point Pleasant, New Jersey, at six. She finished her secondary schooling within New Jersey at Red Bank Catholic High School. Her education continued through Catholic University where she earned an undergraduate degree in architecture. When she was 4 when she started playing the violin and earned the name Violin Girl. As a result of her music performance, she was referred to as the Violin Girl. She gave violin lessons to children in the neighbourhood. She performed Free throughout 1976 when she made her audition for American Idol's sixth season when she was age 19. However, she was eliminated from the show after she finished 16th place.
